Gervonta Davis Knocks Out Ryan Garcia with a Body Shot in the Seventh Round

Gervonta "Tank" Davis proved once again that he is a special fighter by knocking out Ryan Garcia in the seventh round of their super lightweight bout on Saturday.

Despite Garcia's quick jabs and explosive left hook, Davis took no chances in testing their lethality. The first round saw few blows landing, with Garcia more aggressive, but in the second round, Garcia opened up furiously with a dizzying display of hand speed that forced Davis to grab ahold.

Garcia kept punching through the attempted clinches until the referee stopped the action. Davis survived the all-out second-round assault and proved ready with a short counter left to the jaw that sent Garcia to the canvas.

From rounds three until the end, the momentum was fully in Davis's favor, and he racked up points with strategically placed blows that kept him ahead on points. Garcia did score heavily in the sixth round with lead rights that bounced off Davis's head, but not enough to cause concern for the smaller fighter.

Knowing he was behind, Garcia made his move in the seventh round and re-ignited his attacking style, but Davis was ready for the moment. During a short Garcia volley, Davis ducked under a shot and unleashed a short body shot while Garcia fired a right to the head.

Both connected, but Davis's blow was a slow-burning body shot that took four seconds to collapse Garcia to one knee. Referee Tom Taylor counted out Garcia at 1:44 of the seventh round. The large pro-Davis crowd erupted in a roar at the unexpected knockout. Davis and Garcia posed together for photographers after the fight, with Davis stating that Garcia was the best fighter and that they were going off of each other's energy.
