NYSC Denies Issuing Certificate of Service to Enugu Governor-elect Peter Mbah

Recently, news has been circulating on social media and various news outlets regarding the certificate of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) being paraded by Enugu Governor-elect, Peter Mbah. The NYSC has since come forward to deny issuing such a certificate to Mr. Mbah.

Mr. Mbah, who was recently elected as the Governor of Enugu State in Nigeria, had allegedly presented a certificate of NYSC during his campaign. However, the NYSC has categorically denied issuing any certificate of service to Mr. Mbah.

The NYSC is a mandatory one-year program for graduates in Nigeria, aimed at fostering national unity and promoting patriotism. It is a requirement for anyone seeking employment in Nigeria's public sector. To complete the program, graduates are expected to serve their country in various capacities, including teaching, community development, and public service.

As a public figure and a governor-elect, Mr. Mbah is expected to adhere to ethical standards and to set a good example for others. The use of false documents, including educational and professional certificates, is a serious offense in Nigeria, and such actions can have severe consequences.

The NYSC has stated that it will investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate actions if any wrongdoing is discovered. It is important to note that the NYSC has strict guidelines on the issuance of certificates, and any deviation from these guidelines can result in serious consequences.

Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the certificate of return will still be returned to Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party. Mr. Edeoga had contested in the same election as Mr. Mbah and had come second. The Electoral Commission declared Mr. Mbah the winner of the election, but it is important to note that this decision is subject to challenge in a court of law.
