Anambra State Police Disperse Armed Enforcers of Illegal Sit-at-Home, Avert Attack on Bank

On the 9th of May 2023, the Anambra State Police Command and other security forces demonstrated their capability and dedication to maintaining law and order by swiftly responding to the threat posed by illegal sit-at-home enforcers in Nkwo market, Ihiala. The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) members, who were armed with dangerous weapons and guns, had attempted to rob a bank and disrupt commercial activities and vehicular movement in the area by shooting sporadically. However, the joint operatives acted quickly and dispersed the armed men, causing them to abandon their evil plan and flee the scene.

Regrettably, due to the indiscriminate shootings by the armed group, the chief security officer (CSO) of the bank sustained a gunshot wound on his leg. Fortunately, he has been taken to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment. It is important to note that no life was lost during the incident.

The success of the joint security operation can be attributed to the strategic and operational positioning of both human and viable assets of the command by the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng. The improved security dominance and surveillance in the state have significantly enhanced safety and instilled confidence in the public.

In light of the incident, members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. The Anambra State Police Command has also provided emergency contact information for the public's convenience. The Command Control Room Number can be reached at 07039194332, and the Public Relations Officer PRO at 08039334002. Additionally, the ‘npf rescue me app’ is available for free download on both Android and Apple IOS platforms for Android and iPhone users, respectively.

It is imperative to emphasize the importance of the public's cooperation in maintaining law and order. The joint security forces are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens and will spare no effort in ensuring that the state remains safe and secure. In conclusion, the Anambra State Police Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
