Bride Discovers “Timeless” Dream Wedding Gown for Just $25: “I Instantly Knew It Was The One”

Since childhood, Julia Stern Webber envisioned a wedding gown that would transform her into a princess. On December 22, her dream came alive when she married Michael Webber at the enchanting Casa Feliz in Winter Park, Florida. The most astonishing detail of her big day? Her ethereal gown came from a thrift store—and cost merely $25.

Almost a year before their nuptials, Julia stumbled upon the gown at the Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation Resale Shop in West Palm Beach, Florida. The serendipitous discovery occurred on December 30, 2023, and left Julia breathless. “I had visited countless boutiques and always hoped for something understated yet timeless,” Julia shared with PEOPLE. “The moment I spotted this dress on the rack, I knew it was destined for me.”

The bridal masterpiece, a vintage white dress, featured a scoop neckline adorned with intricate sequins, a sculpted fit-and-flare silhouette, and a dramatic oversized bow cascading down the back. To Julia’s delight, the dress fit her flawlessly. “It was like fate,” she said. “The original tag was still attached, and the built-in petticoat added the perfect volume. It was as if it had been custom-made for me.”

Julia emerged from the fitting room to reveal the gown to her family—her sisters, mother, and future mother-in-law. Their unanimous reaction left no doubt that this was “the one.” The jaw-dropping price tag of $25 only heightened their amazement. “We were speechless,” Julia recalled.

After a slight adjustment to the straps and a professional cleaning, the gown was ready for its grand debut. Photographs captured by the talented team at Author Made Photo and Video showcased Julia radiating joy on her wedding day.

Even Michael, her groom, was deeply moved. “During our first look, he was overcome with emotion,” Julia shared. “He told me he couldn’t imagine a more perfect dress.”

The couple’s love story began during their freshman year of high school in 2012, blossoming over the years. Michael proposed in May 2023 on a balcony in Florence, Italy, adding a touch of European romance to their tale.

Their wedding guests were equally mesmerized by Julia’s ensemble. Many described her as a princess, and some even likened the celebration to a royal wedding. “The dress embodied my vision so perfectly that it moved many to tears,” Julia said.

The thrifted gown was only the beginning. Julia curated numerous elements for her special day through thrift stores, including her Jimmy Choo bridal shoes, rehearsal dinner attire, and vintage accents like napkin rings and a cake topper. Each item carried a unique story, adding layers of sentiment to the occasion.

Perhaps the most poignant detail was her cathedral-length veil, lovingly crafted by her grandmother using lace from her mother’s 1995 wedding gown. This heirloom was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, infusing the ceremony with heartfelt tradition.

For Julia and Michael, their wedding was not only a celebration of their love but also a reflection of creativity, resourcefulness, and timeless elegance—all encapsulated in a $25 dream dress.
