‘Occult Traps’ and Alleged Rituals: Woman Claims Witchcraft Behind Wisconsin Apartment Blaze

Charmilia Jeffries offered a peculiar rationale following her arrest and subsequent charge of arson on December 21. Authorities allege that the Wisconsin resident set fire to her Milwaukee apartment under circumstances she attributed to supernatural causes, specifically "witchcraft."

The 36-year-old was formally accused of a single felony charge of arson involving a building without the consent of its owner, according to jail documentation reviewed by JARATVENT.

Firefighters swiftly subdued the flames, ensuring no injuries occurred during the incident, as reported by Milwaukee-based station WISN.

Per a criminal complaint accessed by the outlet, Jeffries had previously instructed her son to dismantle the apartment's smoke detectors, citing distrust and suspicion regarding the devices. During questioning, she allegedly relayed enigmatic statements, claiming that unidentified individuals—referred to only as “they”—had been orchestrating “witchcraft traps” within her residence.

“This is a satanic ritual,” Jeffries reportedly stated to investigators, as documented by WISN. “They’ve been setting me up, planting occult traps around my home.”

The fire and her arrest both occurred on December 21, as confirmed by jail records. Jeffries is presently detained in Milwaukee County Jail under a $7,500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 24.

The Milwaukee Police Department has not provided a comment regarding the matter at this time.
